In December of 2011 we reorganized the executive level of New Era Democrats. The intent of this reorganization is to maximize our efforts and better utilize our talents and strengths as well as the abilities of our key executives. In order to achieve this objective John Orlando, who has demonstrated extraordinary commitment to NED over the past 18 years in being responsible for our entire field operations and who was formerly a vice-president, is being named the new President of NED. Matt Daus, Executive Vice President who has also been a critical part of our growth and myself, who has been President since 1993 will be taking on the responsibility of co-chairs of our organization. As co-chairs we will remain part of the executive committee which includes our founder Mary Sansone and our new president John Orlando. The co-chairs primary responsibility, although we will continue to be involved in the day to day operations, will be the fund raising arm of NED. Additionally Matt and I will both be involved in recruiting, interviewing and vetting candidates for the group as part of the Nominating committee.

Please join me in congratulating John and I know I can count on our organization providing him with the same level of support that I was given during my tenure as president. Our belief is that the new organization will give us more effective structure to maximize and expand the efforts of NED while continuing to maintain our mission statement.

I look forward to seeing all of you on Tuesday March 20th as we host Christine Quinn, Speaker of the City Council, at our inaugural meeting of 2012.
